HR Operations Manager / Head of HR
Monday – Friday – 3 days onsite (Manchester)
Salary upto £50,000 + 15% bonus
Role Overview:
We are seeking a proactive and strategic Head of Human Resources to lead and execute HR initiatives with a strong focus on project-based work. This role is ideal for a senior HR professional who thrives in building and refining systems and policies, improving employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with relevant employment and environmental legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management (Core Focus)
Lead the review, development, and implementation of the Staff Handbook, aligning policies with current employment legislation and company values.
Design and deliver staff engagement strategies, including surveys, feedback loops, and action planning to enhance workplace culture and retention.
Oversee HR compliance in alignment with UK employment and environmental legislation, especially in relation to workforce welfare and sustainability.
Develop and manage bespoke HR projects, such as onboarding frameworks, performance management processes, and internal communication improvements.
Collaborate with department heads to identify project priorities that align with business goals.
Strategic Leadership
Provide strategic HR leadership across the business, advising on organisational structure, workforce planning, and change management.
Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on employee relations, legal risk, and policy development.
Operational Oversight
Ensure HR practices are consistently applied and legally compliant.
Manage HR records, reporting, and analytics for internal and external audits.
Support employee lifecycle activities when needed (e.g., recruitment, onboarding, exits), particularly as part of HR-led projects.
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in a senior HR role, ideally with experience in project management or consultancy-style delivery.
Deep knowledge of UK employment law and awareness of environmental law as it pertains to HR practices (e.g., workplace sustainability, wellbeing policies).
Experience drafting and implementing staff handbooks and HR policies.
Strong track record in developing and implementing staff engagement programmes.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
HR qualification (e.g., CIPD Level 7 or equivalent) preferred.
